I received a request from a historical temple in Taito-ku, which was planning to rebuild its structure. In order to do so, a 100-year-old ginkgo tree needed to be cut down. As a way of preserving the memory of this beautiful tree, I decided to repurpose its wood as part of the new interior. Serving as an elegant storage area for the personal items of temple visitors, RAN is both an homage to the temple’s historical past and an integral part of its vibrant future.
